Reflections on Slam! Bringing Poetry to Life "I
learned how to express myself on paper and let people know how I feel.
I know actions speak louder than words but at a poetry slam, your words
are your actions" "
I'm
proud of myself because I get real nervous when it comes to stage and
people. [I'm proud of] my classmates. They were incredible" "I
learned that [a poetry slam] is so fun that you will forget about being
shy" "I'm
proud of taking a chance and performing my poem in front of people" "The
poetry slam was a great experience for me because this year was the first
year that I learned how to write and perform my own poem in public. I
was so happy the way things turned out to be. Every year if we have to
do this I hope I get better than before" "I
enjoyed the whole thing, I'm proud that I went up there and did my thing" "I
mostly learned that everyone is not the same, because they all got different
points of view
I really got to see and understand what everybody
has in their mind" "I
learned how many ways you can change the meaning of a poem by the way
you say it" "I'm
proud of myself for finishing the poem even though I messed up a couple
of times" "I
always was a poet at heart, but during this unit I learned how to perfect
my craft. I also learned that your voice is the beat and tone of your
poem" |
