Reflections on Slam! Bringing Poetry to Life "I
learned how to express myself on paper and let people know how I feel.
I know actions speak louder than words but at a poetry slam, your words
are your actions" "…I'm
proud of myself because I get real nervous when it comes to stage and
people. [I'm proud of] my classmates. They were incredible" "I
learned that [a poetry slam] is so fun that you will forget about being
shy" "I'm
proud of taking a chance and performing my poem in front of people" "The
poetry slam was a great experience for me because this year was the first
year that I learned how to write and perform my own poem in public. I
was so happy the way things turned out to be. Every year if we have to
do this I hope I get better than before" "I
enjoyed the whole thing, I'm proud that I went up there and did my thing" "I
mostly learned that everyone is not the same, because they all got different
points of view…I really got to see and understand what everybody
