Dear Martin L. King, Jr.

Hello, my name is K. Tran. I am nine years old. I am in the 4th grade. I go to the

Tynan School in South Boston. I also live in South Boston in Massachusetts. Yes, your dream

came true because I am able to have friends, both black, white, or Asian.

Some progress has been made. I'm able to sit anywhere with black people, and I can go to

the church with black people. I can also go to the same mall and school with black people.

The things that still remain are fighting, killing, special treatment, and name-calling. Once when

I was walking home with my sister we were hit with strawberries. Also some people call people

names because they are different and because they talk a different language.

The way we should reach our goals is by respecting everyone. Stop teasing, crimes, name -calling,

and hurting people. Also we should share and be a team. We should try to be fair to other black and

white people. We should show respect to one another. Working together we can make a peaceful place to live in.

Sincerely,

K. Tran

Dear Martin L. King, Jr.,

Hello my name is V. Rodrigues. I'm 10 years old. I am in the 4thgrade. I go to the Tynan

School in South Boston. Yes, your dream has come true. I can go to school with white and black kids.

I can also sit in the front and in the back of the school bus. We can be friends with white people.

We can go to the same bathrooms as whites. Whites and black kids can play together. We can talk to

anyone we want. We can dance with anyone we want. Black and white people can get married. Everyone

can vote now! Some of your dreams didn't come true. People are still killing each other. People are still

fighting. Some kids don't like black kids to sit next to them. Some people don't show respect to each other.

Kids are still teasing each other. Kids are making fun of old people. Some kids are still rude to other kids.

People can stop teasing. They can also stop fighting and stop killing.  Kids can respect the older people.

They can stop name-calling. People should start sharing. Kids should have teamwork. We should have peace

with each other. They should stop crime in our streets.

Sincerely,

V. Rodriquez
